Agricultural Waste Regulations:
You may be aware of the changes surrounding the Agricultural Waste regulations, and as a result of the changes being imposed on the industry, there is a need for every farm to look at its waste policy and look to seek certain exemptions to allow them to store or dispose of different types of waste without having to use external contractors or fall foul of the regulations.
Please note that as of the 15 May 2006 the use of farm tips and dumps has been stopped, as has the burning of waste, other than that classified as “green waste”.
The environment agency has requested that farmers register at certain times according to farm type i.e. dairy, beef or sheep, this is to try and alleviate the pressure of applications before the 15 May 2007; the appropriate dates are shown below:
June 06: Oilseed Rape, Potatoes, Horticulture, Sugarbeet
July – August 06: Beef
September – October 06: Sheep
October – November 06: Dairy
December 06 – January 07: Cereals
February – March 07: Pig & Poultry
To ensure that each of our clients complies with the new regulations and that they have all of the appropriate exemptions that they are entitled to, we would be more than happy to arrange a visit to help complete and submit all of the relevant forms.
Exemption Packs are available by calling the Environment Agency on 0845 6033113.
