Bio bed Creation – Environment Sensitive Farming
It is planned to visit an ADAS site north of Lincoln where there are a variety of different bio beds that have been created and tested for the following reasons:
· To test different materials and construction methods
· To create off-set and drive-over options
· To test and compare results
· To suit different budgets
· To present different approaches from make your own, to ready made
· To test with and get approval from Defra
You will have an initial introduction to the different methodologies involved, materials used and relative costs. You will have the opportunity to inspect and compare the different types of bio beds in operation that will help identify the type of bio bed that suits your method of operating. Consideration will also be given to the location of the bio bed and its requirements.
Importantly, all these bio beds have been approved for use by Defra.
The course is being led by Bill Basford of ADAS and will take half a day.
This course will help you with your waste management and also help ensure you meet the demands necessary for Single Farm Payment when washing down your sprayer.
It is planned to share transport but the vehicle owner will be recompensed. Dates have yet to be finalised.
Cost will be £25 inc lunch or supper as appropriate to suit course timing .
